Plant Care

Watering

During summer, Water daily or when the soil starts to become slightly dry at the top. During Winter season water once in 2 days or when the soil starts to become slightly dry at the top. Keep the soil lightly moist at all times, but do not overwater as this will cause brown spots and leaf drop. Curly or dry leaves suggest, the plant is dry and needs watering. Water in the early morning or late evening when temperatures are cooler. Always check your soil before watering.

Light

During summer season keep the plants in shaded area and during winter season plants can withstand direct/indirect light.

Temperature

During summer season or when the temperature is above 45°C place the plant in shaded area. During winter season or the when the temperature is below 45°C the plants can be directly placed in direct/indirect sunlight.

Fertilizer

Apply liquid fertilizer or slow release fertilizer once in 15 days. Always fertilizer the plants during the morning hours when the temperature is low. For best results use Folikraft ready to use Outdoor Plant Food / Flower Booster.

Plant Bio

Terminalia mantaly, also known as Mantaly Terminalia or Mantaly Tree, is a species of tropical tree native to Madagascar. Here's a description and care guide for Terminalia mantaly:

Description:

Terminalia mantaly is a medium to large-sized tree that can reach heights of up to 15-25 meters (50-80 feet) when fully mature.
The tree has a rounded or spreading crown with dense foliage consisting of elliptical to lanceolate leaves that are dark green and glossy on the upper surface, and lighter green underneath.
Terminalia mantaly is deciduous, shedding its leaves in the dry season and producing new foliage when conditions become more favorable.
The tree blooms with small, inconspicuous yellowish-green flowers that are borne in clusters. These flowers are followed by small, rounded fruits that ripen to a dark brown color.

Care Tips:

Sunlight: Terminalia mantaly thrives in full sun to partial shade. Ensure that the tree receives adequate sunlight for at least 6-8 hours a day to support healthy growth and flowering.
Temperature: This tree is well-suited to tropical and subtropical climates and can tolerate a wide range of temperatures. It is relatively resilient to heat but may be sensitive to frost and cold temperatures.
Watering: Terminalia mantaly has moderate water needs and prefers consistently moist soil. Water the tree deeply and thoroughly during the growing season, especially during periods of drought. Allow the soil to dry out slightly between waterings to prevent waterlogging.
Soil: Plant Terminalia mantaly in well-draining soil that is rich in organic matter. It can tolerate a variety of soil types, including sandy, loamy, or clay soils, as long as they provide good drainage.
Fertilization: Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer formulated for trees in spring, just before the start of the growing season. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for application rates and frequency. Avoid over-fertilizing, as excessive nutrients can lead to lush foliage growth at the expense of flowering.
Pruning: Prune Terminalia mantaly as needed to remove dead or diseased branches, promote a strong and balanced structure, and control the tree's size and shape. Pruning is best done during the dormant season or after flowering.
Mulching: Apply a layer of organic mulch, such as wood chips or shredded bark, around the base of the tree to conserve moisture, suppress weeds, and improve soil fertility. Keep the mulch several inches away from the trunk to prevent rotting.
Pest and Disease Control: Terminalia mantaly is generally resistant to pests and diseases, but it may occasionally be affected by issues such as scale insects, aphids, or fungal diseases. Monitor the tree regularly and treat any problems promptly with appropriate insecticides or fungicides.

By providing proper care, Terminalia mantaly can thrive and beautify your landscape with its lush foliage, seasonal flowers, and attractive form, making it a valuable addition to tropical and subtropical gardens.
